What makes a good teacher? For sure there is not an universal answer to this question. In his book The Dancing Wu Li Masters Gary Zukav writes that “A Master teaches essence. When the essence is perceived, he teaches what is necessary to expand the perception. […] In this way the Wu Li Master dances with the student.” Interestingly also Moshe Feldenkrais whose work I study and practice compares his single hands-on lessons to a dance between the practitioner and the student.
In his comparison of Feldenkrais’ work and Milton Erickson’s Hypnotherapy Mark Reese quotes that Feldenkrais has called himself “a funny sort of teacher who doesn’t teach, yet the students learn.” So says the main character in Victor Wooten’s The Music Lesson that he is not teaching but the student is learning.
All of my students do learn, as I “teach” at several universities, such as the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the University of Applied Sciences FH Campus Wien. In the last years I have given lessons to over 5000 students in all of my disciplines.
In my private studio I mainly focus on my somatic (Feldenkrais) practice. I have given workshops for medics, psychologists, physiotherapists, musicians and music educators and for the general public. For more information on my workshops, group or single hands-on lessons please feel free to contact me.
